PU screed for a Coventry food-production line

  • The challenge
The existing floor was cracking under daily steam-cleaning and forklift traffic, and standing water around the drains was becoming a hygiene risk at EHO inspections. The client needed a floor that could take hot washdowns and mild cleaning acids, and fall correctly to the gullies, without shutting the line down for more than a weekend.
  • The system supplied
We specified a heavy-duty PU cementitious screed, laid to falls with stainless steel drainage channels reset into the new surface. Its thermal-shock resistance handles repeated hot-water washdowns without delaminating, and the dense, low-porosity finish meets food-safety flooring requirements without a separate sealed topcoat.
  • The outcome
The line was back in production the following Monday, on a seamless, coved floor that's fully washdown-rated and easy to keep audit-ready. Eighteen months on, the client's reported zero cracking and no repeat drainage issues.
